Dicky Overbey arrived in Nashville at the ripe age of 17 to pursue a career in singing and songwriting. It was not long until he formed an interest in the steel guitar. Dicky began his career with the steel guitar by playing with Faron Young. He would continue to hone his skills on the instrument through the years by playing with such legends as Connie Smith, Johnny Bush, Darrell McCall, Ronnie Milsap, and Hank Williams, Jr. Dicky also made a name for himself as a songwriter with such hits as "Sally Bryson" and "Hide and Go Cheat". He continues to be well respected and valued in studio sessions. He has been a major influence to steelers all over the world for many years. His unique style of steel playing is powerful, full of soul and emotion. Dicky has been working with Jake Hooker and The Outsiders for the last several years and they can be found working the best Texas Honky-Tonks on weekends.
Dicky and Bobby waited a long time to record this special Christmas album together. It was recorded entirely in one day at BGM Studio in San Antonio. It's several of the Christmas favorites done in traditional Country style, lots of fiddles & steel, and it's very unique. Excellent work also by Jake Hooker on upright bass, Jim Loessberg on drums and Randy Reinhard on piano.
